We took a flight to China to visit the most famous monument in the
Asian country: the Great Wall of China.
It is an imposing fortress, built in the V century, to protect
the northern part of the Chinese Empire from attacks by nomadic
peoples of Mongolia and Manchuria.
The building has been ordered by the Emperor Qin for his dynasty,
and has remained there, unflinching through the centuries, but has
had to be remodeled at least a chance.
With an area of 7,000 kilometers, connecting Shanhaiguan in the
east, to Jiayuguan in the west, across six provinces in northern
China.
Like any important historical monument, have deserved the title
of World Heritage, and this gets it in the year 1987, when UNESCO
and grants it two years ago, receives also the appointment of one
of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
But The Great Wall of China, hiding behind a sad story, because
in the same building, killed more than 10,000 men, and because of
this, is also known as "the world's largest cemetery .
Although much of it has deteriorated over time, and that today
no longer fulfills the purpose for which it was built, continues
to attract every day hundreds of tourists and remains one of symbols
of China. |
