Bathed by the Mediterranean, Barcelona is located northeast of the
Iberian Peninsula. It is the capital of the Autonomous Community
of Catalonia and its population of over 1,600,000 inhabitants. The
city is divided into ten districts.

The Patron Saint Festival of Our Lady of La Merced are held on
the 24th of September, with activities from parades of giants and
heads, realization of human towers and music festivals.
In the sports section, Barcelona has two major football stadiums.
These are the Nou Camp and Cornella - El Prat (recently opened),
where local teams play as both the F. C. Barcelona and R.C.D. Espanyol
respectively.
